NOTHING CHARACTERIZES US MORE THAN OUR ENJOYMENT OF TAPAS, A DEEPLY-ROOTED CUSTOM WITH MANY VARIATIONS THROUGHOUT SPAIN.
One of those is the eating of tapas, particularly popular in the north of the country. Perhaps it is no coincidence that this is also one of the regions which has contributed most to putting Spain on the worldâ€™s gastronomic map.
Inspired by that tradition, and combining it with the techniques and demands of the modern restaurant industry, in 1988 the first Lizarran tavern opened in Sitges (Barcelona). That was the start of a meteoric expansion which by 2010 had taken the total number of establishments to 200, situated throughout the country, with Lizarran becoming part of the landscape of our cities, and a name readily known to all.
